Pristine Environment
Guests consistently laud the resort's immaculate cleanliness across all rooms and public areas, ensuring a fresh and inviting stay.
Exceptional Service
The staff are frequently highlighted for their genuine friendliness, attentiveness, and helpfulness, contributing significantly to a positive guest experience.
Idyllic Beach & Pools
The resort boasts a beautiful, peaceful white sand beach with soft sand and warm, shallow turquoise waters, complemented by five excellent pools and an exciting water park.
Diverse Buffet Dining
The main buffet restaurant receives high marks for its wide variety of fresh, quality food options, often preferred over the à la carte offerings.
Modern Facilities & Entertainment
As a new property, the resort's modern facilities are appreciated, alongside a lively program of daily activities, Riu Parties, and nightly entertainment.
A La Carte Dining Consistency
While the buffet is strong, some guests find the à la carte restaurants to offer inconsistent quality, sometimes falling short of expectations.
Weak Drinks
A common point of feedback is that alcoholic beverages tend to be weak, often requiring a specific request for a 'doble' shot.
Secluded Location
The resort's beautiful beachfront location in Costa Mujeres is somewhat isolated, which might be a drawback for guests wishing to explore local attractions beyond the property.
Room Comfort & Amenities
Some guests report beds can be overly firm, and the unexpected absence of basic toiletries is a recurring surprise for a 5-star establishment.

Booking.com
Hotel Riu Latino launched in October 2022 as the first Riu Classic Adults Only property in Mexico, which distinguishes it from the brand's family-forward hotels on the same Costa Mujeres stretch. The adults-only designation means the pools are free of family programming and the evening entertainment skews toward active nightlife — the Pacha disco and Riu Party events are core to what this property offers. If that's not the holiday you want, the adjacent Riu Dunamar or Riu Palace Costa Mujeres are the comparison properties to consider.
The Romantic Open Air Dinner is a specific feature worth flagging — it's an outdoor à la carte dining experience separate from the main specialty restaurants, with a booking-required format that differs from the usual Riu specialty restaurant pattern. Guests who want a set-piece dinner experience one evening of their stay should book this early rather than assuming it'll be available mid-trip.
The honest complaints from guest reviews are specific: drinks are consistently described as weak unless guests request a 'doble' (double). This is mentioned enough times to be treated as standard practice rather than an exception — request doubles at the bar or expect to notice the difference. Food quality at specialty restaurants is inconsistently reviewed. Room air conditioning cuts off when balcony doors are open — a standard eco-sensor setup, but worth knowing if you sleep with the door ajar.
Practically: 594 rooms on Costa Mujeres beach, approximately 33 km north of Cancún International Airport (CUN), about a 35-minute transfer. Costa Mujeres is a quieter, less congested beach area than the main Cancún Hotel Zone. The property is relatively isolated — the nearby town is small and the main Cancún strip requires a taxi or organized transfer. Splash Water World is on-site and included.
