Hotel Riu Dubai holds a specific title that actually means something: it was the first 4-star all-inclusive beachfront family hotel in Dubai when it opened in December 2020. The UAE market has historically been dominated by 5-star properties charging per meal, making Riu's all-inclusive model genuinely distinct. If you want an all-inclusive family beach vacation in Dubai rather than a traditional UAE hotel stay, the options remain limited — and Riu Dubai is the most established.
The resort targets families directly. Splash Water World with its water slides is the headline feature for children. Two children's pools, one with slides, handle the younger ages. RiuLand operates six days a week for ages 4–7 and 8–12 with a mini-disco at 8pm most evenings. The beach itself is private and sandy — a real differentiator since public beaches in Dubai are typically separated from hotels. Adults get two swim-up bars (Oasis and Coral), though those are restricted to guests 18 and over, with alcohol limited to 21+.
The alcohol age restriction at 21 is worth flagging explicitly. In most Riu properties globally the bar age is 18; UAE law sets it at 21. Groups with members aged 18–20 will find they cannot access alcohol at the swim-up bars or order at most venues, which may be relevant for friend groups or families with young adult children traveling together.
Practically: 787 rooms on Dubai Islands (formerly Deira Islands), approximately 11 km from Dubai International Airport (DXB) — a 20–25 minute drive outside peak hours, which can extend significantly during Dubai rush hour (7–10am, 4–7pm). The 24-hour all-inclusive covers 4 restaurants and 6 bars. Three specialty restaurants (The Moon, Spices, The Palm) require reservations in two sittings. Al-Andalus handles the buffet for all three daily meals. Room categories include balcony rooms with various views, and family rooms accommodating four.
Dubai's summer months (June–September) are extreme — heat above 40°C and high humidity. Peak family season is October–April. Room rates drop substantially in summer; the indoor air-conditioned common areas and pools function year-round.
