TripAdvisor
Hilton Tulum opened in May 2022 and holds the distinction of being Hilton's largest resort in the Caribbean and Latin America at 735 rooms. The scale matters in both directions: it means more restaurants, more pool variety, and more amenity depth than any comparable property, but it also means internal shuttle carts are a practical necessity — some rooms are a significant walk from the main lobby and restaurants. If walking distance to food at midnight matters to you, room location selection (Casa 1 for proximity to the main area, Casa 6 for the family zone) is something to think through at booking.
The resort occupies a secluded bay with an eco-sensitive design that integrates the natural environment rather than clearing it. The beach is genuinely private-feeling — neighboring resorts aren't adjacent. The Enclave upgrade tier adds private pools, a dedicated lounge with premium alcohol, and Enclave-exclusive restaurants like Chiringuito Cocomar. It's a meaningful operational difference from the base experience.
For families: the Kids Club has an outdoor playground, splash pool, and indoor playroom; the Teen Club adds video games and a cinema room. The family zone (Casa 6) is positioned near the splash pool and children's buffet (Vela Sur) for logistical convenience. Adult-only pool areas exist separately.
The main consistent complaints: buffet quality inconsistency, difficulty getting à la carte reservations (book immediately at check-in via the resort app), rocky beach sections that limit swimming, mosquitoes in public areas in the evening (pack repellent), and a tipping culture that some guests find uncomfortable despite the all-inclusive format. The resort app handles reservations and logistics well — using it from day one is essentially required.
Practical: Cancun Airport (CUN) is 1.5–2 hours away. Tulum International Airport (TQO) is closer on paper at about 1 hour, but availability for international flights is limited. The eco-setting means raccoons appear in open areas — not a safety concern, but worth knowing.
