Costco Travel
The Hideaway at Royalton Saint Lucia sits at Smugglers Cove on the island's northwest coast, 8 miles from George F. L. Charles Airport in Castries — a meaningful advantage over the 67-km transfer from Hewanorra International. For guests flying into SLU on a regional or charter connection, arrival time drops to under 30 minutes. The cove location gives the beach a more protected, enclosed feel than most Saint Lucia all-inclusives on open coastline.
The property runs 166 adults-only suites from 550 sq ft (entry) to 1,216 sq ft (Diamond Club Presidential and Penthouse categories). Every booking includes in-suite custom aromatherapy and a personalized beach bag — small touches that distinguish the Hideaway program from the standard Royalton all-inclusive. The broader dining lineup of 10 restaurants and 13 bars spans the combined Hideaway and Royalton Saint Lucia complex, with Dorado (beachfront seafood grill) reserved exclusively for Hideaway guests.
The consistent friction point in guest reviews is the same as the other Hideaway properties: service inconsistency. Specific complaints include slow room service, unfulfilled housekeeping requests, and reports of TV and maintenance issues in individual rooms. Food quality at à la carte venues gets mixed reviews — some dinners are excellent, others underwhelm. The Diamond Club upgrade is the established workaround for the restaurant reservation problem, but at additional cost.
One issue worth flagging specifically: several guest reviews mention disparate treatment of guests of color, including perception that Black guests receive slower or less attentive service. This is a direct quote-level concern in reviews and worth acknowledging for travelers who factor this into accommodation decisions.
For context: 166 suites, fully all-inclusive including non-motorized water sports, nightly entertainment, fitness classes, and 24-hour room service. The spa has nine treatment rooms — significantly more than the four-room spas at the Jamaica properties. Paid treatments not included. Local beach vendors do approach guests from outside the resort perimeter; the cove geography limits this more than an open beach would but doesn't eliminate it.
