Grand Palladium Sicilia Resort & Spa sits on Sicily's northern coast in Campofelice di Roccella, about 80 km east of Palermo and 40 km west of the hilltop town of Cefalù. Opened in 2004 and fully renovated in 2021, the 469-room property occupies 10 hectares of beachfront — an unusual setting for a comprehensive all-inclusive in southern Europe, where the format is far less common than in the Caribbean. Palermo Airport (PMO) is about an hour's drive, typically transferring via the coastal highway.
The resort makes most sense for northern European and Italian families who want structured all-inclusive convenience with access to a genuinely Sicilian setting. The beach is predominantly pebbly, not the fine Caribbean sand that photos of tropical all-inclusives suggest, and guests who arrive expecting a sandy beach often feel let down. There's a dedicated private cinema with 36 seats, BREEAM and Ecostars sustainability certifications, and bocce courts — details that reflect a European resort sensibility rather than a Caribbean one.
The practical drawback is a la carte restaurant availability. At 469 rooms, the resort has only two a la carte dinner venues (El Dorado and Chang Thai, plus Portofino for seasonal lunch and dinner). With just two reservation slots per night, guests routinely fail to get a table during their entire stay. The Sicania buffet covers three meals and is the realistic primary dining option for most guests.
The Infinite Indulgence all-inclusive covers meals at all restaurants and bars, fitness center access, kids clubs, and nightly entertainment. Hydrotherapy spa access and most treatments are extra. In-room dining is an additional charge — unlike Caribbean Grand Palladium properties, room service is not included. The Signature Level tier (priced above standard rooms) adds private check-in, one hydrotherapy circuit entry per person per stay, priority restaurant reservations, VIP pool area access, and a 10% discount on premium food and wine.
Five pools cover the property including an adults-only indoor heated pool in the spa and a Signature Level-exclusive garden pool. The beach sees calm Mediterranean water — suitable for swimming and safe for children, though the pebble surface requires water shoes for comfortable entry. Three kids clubs cover ages 1-3 (by reservation), 4-12, and 12-16. Tennis courts, five-a-side football, archery, and bocce round out the sports program. Cefalù's historic center — a genuine UNESCO-adjacent medieval town with a Norman cathedral — is 40 km and accessible by shuttle or rental car.
