Gourmet Dining Experience
Guests consistently laud the "Gourmet Inclusive® Experience," highlighting the high quality, diversity, and à la carte nature of the food across its multiple restaurants.
Exceptional Service
The friendly, attentive staff, particularly the personalized butler service, receives frequent praise for exceeding guest expectations and enhancing the stay.
Luxurious Oceanfront Suites
Reviewers rave about the spacious, well-appointed, and consistently oceanfront suites, many featuring jacuzzis, contributing to a truly comfortable and lavish experience.
Family-Friendly Amenities
The resort is highly praised for its comprehensive offerings for families, including the Eko Kids Club, extensive baby amenities, and dedicated teen lounge.
"More Inclusive™" Value
The inclusion of complimentary airport transfers and select excursions, like the waterpark access, adds significant value and convenience, enhancing the overall vacation package.
Limited Swimmable Beach Areas
A recurring point of caution is that while the beach is beautiful, parts of it are not ideal for swimming due to natural coral, rocks, and concrete blocks. A designated swimmable area and natural saltwater pool are available.
Contradictory Dining Feedback
While overall dining is highly praised, a minority of reviews indicate occasional issues with limited options or bland food, though this contradicts the general sentiment.
Extra Costs for Premium Services
Guests should be aware that spa treatments, certain excursions beyond the "More Inclusive™" package, and some specific items like Starbucks® coffee incur additional charges.

Generations Riviera Maya by Karisma opened in February 2014 and sits on the Caribbean coast about 20 miles south of Cancun International Airport — roughly a 28-30 minute drive. The property was remodeled in 2016 and operates under Karisma's Gourmet Inclusive® concept, which distinguishes itself from standard all-inclusive programs by guaranteeing unlimited gourmet à la carte dining rather than relying primarily on buffet service.
The resort's structural design targets multi-generational families specifically: 159 suites, every one oceanfront, every one served by a personal butler. Baby amenities (cribs, bottle warmers, baby monitors) are provided complimentary. An Eko Kids Club runs supervised programming for ages 4-12. Adults over 18 gain full cross-resort access to El Dorado Casitas Royale and El Dorado Royale, the adjacent adults-only properties, adding 18 more restaurants and multiple bars to the available dining pool. This cross-access is the program's strongest practical feature for families with adult children or mixed-generation groups.
The kitchen's on-site hydroponic greenhouse supplies fresh produce to all five restaurants. This is not a decorative feature — it operates year-round and the menus change to incorporate what's being grown. The Palms beachfront seafood grill and the Wine Kitchen with its curated wine pairings are the two most distinctive dining options. Jade's Shabu-shabu hot pot format at shared tables is popular with families who want an interactive dinner.
The honest limitation is the beach. Some areas are protected by coral, rocks, and concrete blocks, with a narrow designated swimmable zone. A natural saltwater pool provides a more controlled swimming option, and 10 resort pools (including a Kids Club pool and multiple swim-up configurations) compensate, but guests who prioritize open-water beach swimming should know this before booking. The resort also sits between Cancun and Tulum rather than in either destination, so off-property excursions to either center require planning.
