Pros & Cons
Club Med Bali
Pros
- One of the only true all-inclusives in Bali — meals, drinks, kids' clubs, and most activities under one rate without supplementary fees
- Flying trapeze school, archery, Balinese cooking and dance lessons, and a 6-hole golf practice course are included differentiators not found at comparably priced Bali resorts
- G.O. (Gentil Organisateur) staff genuinely engage with guests at meals and activities — the social dynamic is warmer than standard large hotels
- Multi-tiered Kids' Clubs (4-17 years) are included and well-executed — a primary reason families choose Club Med over other Bali options
- Adults-only Zen Pool is a meaningful amenity — couples and adults without children can have a genuine quiet pool space
- Platinum Green Globe certification for 10 consecutive years demonstrates sustained commitment to sustainable tourism practices
Cons
- Room sizes are small — 25 sq meters for a Superior Room is noticeably cramped, and the building hasn't been comprehensively renovated since 2008
- Wi-Fi connectivity is inconsistent across the property — reported to work only in specific areas of some rooms
- Chinese guests specifically have noted that the buffet flavor profiles don't align well with their taste preferences
- Australian school holiday periods significantly increase resort density — research the timing if avoiding peak crowds
- The Mini Club for younger children can operate without air conditioning — the tropical Bali heat makes this a comfort concern for some parents
- Some guests have noted ants in outdoor seating areas — bring insect repellent for evening activities in the gardens
Grand Velas Riviera Maya
Pros
- Cocina de Autor is the first all-inclusive restaurant in the world to earn both a MICHELIN star and AAA Five Diamond — included in the rate
- SE Spa with Forbes Five Stars, 90,000+ square feet, and 40+ treatment suites is one of the largest and most awarded resort spas in Mexico
- Three distinct ambiances mean guests in Zen Grand have a completely different resort experience from guests in Grand Class — useful for multi-room group bookings
- Tulum ruins are 15 minutes away and cenote tours are easy half-day excursions from this location
