Exceptional Golf
Guests consistently praise the well-maintained three golf courses and the overall golf-focused atmosphere, including excellent group lessons for all ages.
Art Deco Ambiance
The resort's impressive historic Art Deco architecture and elegant, intimate ambiance are frequently highlighted as unique and charming elements of the stay.
Outstanding G.O. Team
The G.O. staff receives consistent accolades for their friendliness, helpfulness, and ability to foster a vibrant and convivial atmosphere among guests.
High-Quality Dining
The 'excellent' and 'generous' cuisine, particularly the beautifully presented buffet featuring French gastronomy, is a major highlight, often enjoyed on the outdoor balcony.
Impeccable Cleanliness
Reviewers consistently describe the resort and its rooms as 'spotlessly clean,' crediting the diligent cleaning staff for maintaining high standards.
Weak In-Room Wi-Fi
Guests frequently caution about the unreliable standard Wi-Fi in rooms, often recommending the purchase of a 'business Wi-Fi' package for consistent connectivity.
Limited Pool Experience
The on-site outdoor pool is perceived more as a 'refreshment basin,' and the larger Palmarium pools are unfortunately inaccessible until 2027 due to renovations.
Aging Room Elements
Despite recent renovations, some guests note that the underlying age of the building is still evident in certain worn room fixtures and furniture.
Less Kid-Focused
The resort is generally seen as more suitable for adults and couples, with a comparatively limited range of dedicated activities for young children versus other Club Meds.
Unexpected Extra Costs
Guests should be aware of additional charges for premium Wi-Fi, on-site parking, and the 18-hole golf course, which was previously complimentary.

The building that houses Club Med Vittel Ermitage dates to the early 20th century and carries official historical monument status for its Art Deco architecture. Club Med has operated it since 1973, and a €15 million renovation completed in July 2024 updated rooms and public areas without erasing the manor's character. That combination — genuine Art Deco grandeur with modern room infrastructure — is what separates this property from standard Club Med resort templates.
This is not a beach resort. It is a country club, specifically designed for active guests who want golf and tennis as the organizing principle of their stay. Group golf lessons with access to the driving range and practice areas are included in the all-inclusive rate. The 18-hole Mont Saint-Jean course requires a fee to play full rounds, but the practice infrastructure is complimentary. Five clay tennis courts are available with group instruction included. If golf and racket sports are not on your agenda, the value equation here is less compelling than a Club Med beach property.
The main drawback is pool availability. The resort's two larger Palmarium pools — widely mentioned in pre-2024 guest reviews — are closed for renovation until 2027. The only option currently is an above-ground outdoor pool measuring 12 by 5 meters, which multiple guests describe as more of a large basin than a proper swimming pool. If pool time is a priority, this is a genuine limitation until the Palmarium reopens.
Practical context: 132 rooms in the main manor building; the nearest major international airport is Basel-Mulhouse-Fribourg (BSL), about 140 minutes by car. Nancy by rail is 70 minutes. The resort is inland, in the Vosges spa town of Vittel, which means no beach and limited nightlife beyond the property. From September 2025, the resort accepts dogs — a deliberate and rare positioning for Club Med. The Club Med Spa by PAYOT is a 10-minute walk through the park, not within the main building.
