Diverse Activities
The wide array of included land and water sports, such as water skiing, wakeboarding, kayaking, archery, and tennis with lessons, is a major highlight, ensuring entertainment for all ages and interests.
Gourmet Dining Experience
The resort offers a high-quality and varied buffet experience with fresh local specialties, international dishes, and made-to-order options, including the well-received specialty restaurant, Jangada.
G.O. Team Excellence
The G.O. (Gracious Organizers) team receives frequent commendation for their friendliness, attentiveness, and ability to create a welcoming atmosphere, significantly enhancing the overall guest experience.
Family-Friendly Amenities
Extensive childcare and family programs for children from 4 months to 17 years old are a strong draw, providing entertainment and care that makes the resort ideal for families.
Inconsistent Room Quality
While newer Junior Suites are modern, some standard rooms may appear dated and have not been universally renovated, leading to an inconsistent room experience for guests.
Language Barrier Concerns
International visitors sometimes encounter a language barrier with some staff members, as English proficiency is not universal across all resort areas.
Long Travel Time
The journey from GIG airport can be unexpectedly long, potentially taking up to 4 hours during peak seasons, which guests should factor into their travel plans.
Value Perception
Despite the extensive all-inclusive offerings, some guests feel the overall value for money could be more competitive compared to other resorts.

Green Globe Certification
Platinum Status
Green Globe
Club Med Rio Das Pedras sits on a private stretch of Sepetiba Bay with the Mata Atlântica Atlantic Forest behind it — a UNESCO-recognized biome. The property holds Green Globe Platinum certification for sustainability, which is meaningful in context: the Mata Atlântica is one of the world's most threatened forests, and the resort's positioning within it is consequential. Built in 1987, renovated significantly in 2016 and again in 2024 (deluxe rooms, main bar, Jangada restaurant, new beach bar), the property looks better now than it has in decades. Waterskiing and wakeboarding are included with group lessons — unusual as included activities at most all-inclusives and the main sporting differentiator here.
The Jangada restaurant by the river is the highlight meal: reservation required (one per stay), à la carte Brazilian and international menu from 8pm. The wine cellar at Jangada holds 80+ labels including regional cachaças and organic Brazilian spirits. Samba dance lessons are a culturally specific included activity — genuinely instructional. The excursion to Ilha Grande, a largely car-free island and national park, is one of the most distinctive nearby destinations in any Club Med's excursion program.
Two honest drawbacks: the drive from Rio's Galeão International Airport (GIG) is long — 110–150 km, averaging 2–2.5 hours under normal conditions, up to 4 hours during Carnival. This is a commitment that not all guests factor in at booking. Second, unrenovated standard rooms exist alongside the newer units — some are noticeably dated. Request renovated rooms in the deluxe categories or La Réserve.
Practically: Petit Club (2–3 years) costs extra. Baby Club from age 4 months. The wine cellar is extra cost. Room service is extra cost except for some Exclusive Collection guests. Jangada reservations: book at the restaurant between noon and 1pm.
