The protection means the water clarity is exceptional and the coral reef ecology is genuinely intact — not typical resort beach conditions. Manta ray encounters are the most-cited experience in guest reviews, and while sightings are subject to conditions, the site has a legitimate reputation for manta access that's earned through its marine park positioning.
The resort's Okinawan cultural programming differentiates it from standard tropical all-inclusives. Sanshin (traditional Okinawan string instrument) lessons, Eisa dance workshops, and local cooking classes are woven into the activities schedule — these aren't token cultural add-ons but part of a coherent regional identity that the property maintains. The cuisine is explicitly Okinawan longevity-focused, using locally sourced ingredients and incorporating Ishigaki beef (the island's premium wagyu, though available as an extra-charge premium item) and fresh seafood from the surrounding reef.
