Guests who want sand-and-sea within 30 seconds of their room should look elsewhere. But guests who want an intimate, garden-and-koi-pond setting with genuinely personalized service will find this one of the strongest options in Puerto Vallarta.
At 80 suites, the staff-to-guest ratio is favorable enough that employees learn names and drink preferences within a day. The property's 4.5+ average ratings and high repeat-guest rate — many are on their 4th or 5th visit — back this up. The resort holds an AAA Four Diamond designation for Emiliano Restaurant, where Executive Chef Sandra Macias runs rotating nightly themed menus (Mexican, French, Italian, Veracruz) that hold up across a multi-night stay.
The all-inclusive package here is meaningfully more premium than the Cancun strip norm: $50 USD spa credit per adult per night (credited daily, does not roll over), complimentary airport transfer (5 minutes from PVR — the shortest in Puerto Vallarta luxury), all premium spirits included, and one complimentary dinner at the AAA Five Diamond Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit. Budget that Grand Velas dinner for the second or third night — it books up and should be reserved when you book the trip, not when you arrive.
Practical limitations: only one main on-property restaurant (Emiliano), which feels right for a 4-night stay but becomes repetitive at 7+ nights. Breakfast variety also draws occasional criticism. The beach at Tau Beach Club is Banderas Bay — warmer water than the Caribbean and generally calm, but the sand has rocky patches and isn't the white powder of the Dominican Republic. Airport jet noise can affect some garden-facing suites; request suites facing away from the flight path.
