Breathless Punta Cana was the first property the brand opened, launching in November 2013 at Uvero Alto — a stretch of Dominican Republic coast about 45 minutes from Punta Cana airport that's deliberately less built-up than the main Bávaro hotel corridor. That location is both the resort's advantage and its limitation: the beach at Uvero Alto is a long stretch of light brown sand with palm trees and less sargassum interference than some Bávaro properties, and the area feels less congested. But it also means you're farther from any town, restaurants, or nightlife outside the resort complex.
As the original Breathless, this property established the brand's "Unlimited-Luxury" concept and it remains the largest in the lineup at 750–757 suites — significantly bigger than Cabo (169) or Montego Bay (150). At this size, the resort operates more like a conventional large all-inclusive with entertainment programs, rather than the intimate-feeling properties. The flip side is the sheer number of dining options: 10–13 restaurants on the Breathless side, plus full exchange access to Dreams Onyx Resort next door, totaling 22 dining venues and 16 bars.
The Strip Grill — an oceanfront steakhouse — is consistently ranked by guests for both best steak and best overall food. Coquette (French) wins for ambiance. Silk City (teppanyaki/Pan-Asian) is rated for the most interactive dinner experience. An on-site casino adds an evening option that most Breathless properties don't have.
Practically: the Relax Spa by Pevonia has 6 double and 14 single treatment cabins — more capacity than most comparable properties. Four outdoor pools, two Xhale Club pools, and a private white-sand beach. Guest ratings are generally strong for food quality and beach conditions here compared to the rest of the brand.
