Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar is the adults-only (18+) Luxury-tier property in the Bahia Principe Bavaro complex, reopened in November 2018 after a complete transformation from its original 2006 configuration. At 528 suites, it's larger than the average adults-only Caribbean all-inclusive. The Luxury designation means premium inclusions — upgraded rooms, enhanced service, access to the complex's full specialty restaurant network — and the 'Escape' concept positioning it as the more sophisticated adults-oriented alternative to the family Grand hotels.
Limbo restaurant and M.E.A.T. Steakhouse receive the strongest food reviews of any specialty venues in the complex. Staff quality is consistently praised as exceptional. The Coffee Shop at Luxury Ambar is specifically recommended by guests across the entire Bahia Principe Bavaro complex as the best coffee available.
The main ongoing complaint is restaurant reservation access — specialty à la carte slots fill quickly and some guests find the booking system frustrating. Seaweed on Arena Gorda Beach is a seasonal issue (June–September can be particularly affected). Some room condition reviews note dated elements despite the 2018 renovation.
