TikTok has officially entered the travel booking business. The social media platform unveiled TikTok Go, a new feature that lets users search for and book hotels and flights without ever leaving the app. Expedia Group has signed on as an early partner for the initiative.

The launch was announced at TikTok World, the company's annual product showcase held in Brooklyn this week. It represents TikTok's most ambitious move yet into commerce beyond physical products, extending the platform's reach from travel inspiration into actual transactions.

The logic behind TikTok Go is straightforward: millions of users already turn to TikTok for travel ideas, scrolling through beach resort clips and hotel room tours before heading to a separate booking site to actually reserve a stay. TikTok Go collapses that gap, letting users act on that inspiration immediately.

For the hotel and resort industry, the implications are significant. TikTok's user base skews younger than traditional travel booking platforms, and the visual, video-first format gives resort properties a distinct advantage in showcasing their offerings. All-inclusive resorts in destinations like Cancun and the Dominican Republic — places that photograph and film well — could see outsized benefits.

Expedia has been aggressive about meeting travelers on new platforms, and TikTok Go fits that strategy. The company has already integrated with Google's AI-powered search tools and expanded its presence on social platforms over the past year.

TikTok also debuted advertising options tied to TikTok Go, giving hotels and resorts a direct pipeline from content creation to confirmed bookings. Combined with TikTok's AI-powered ad tools, properties can now target users who are actively browsing travel content and serve them booking options in real time.
