Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel Changes Owners After Its Room Renovation
Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel has been acquired by KSL Capital Partners. The Dana Point resort remains bookable after its 2025 room and suite renovation.
The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel has a new owner. KSL Capital Partners acquired the 373-room Dana Point resort in a transaction that closed October 23, according to CoStar reporting published October 28. The price was not disclosed, and KSL declined to comment to the publication.
For travelers considering the Southern California coast, the useful distinction is between the sale and the accommodation already on offer. The property completed a renovation in 2025. This week's ownership news should not be read as the start of another room overhaul or the announcement of a new resort.
What does the sale change for a planned stay?
CoStar reports that Peregrine Hospitality, KSL's affiliated management company, will operate the property. The Orange County Business Journal also reported the acquisition. Neither report sets out a guest-facing closure schedule, a new room package or a change to existing reservation terms.
The official Ritz-Carlton website continues to present the hotel under its established name and offers a booking search. That gives prospective guests somewhere concrete to check availability, but it does not settle every question about an individual reservation. Travelers with deposits, group contracts or special arrangements should ask the property to confirm those details directly.
Which room differences matter more than the ownership headline?
The hotel's current room guide lists private patios or balconies with courtyard, coastline or ocean outlooks. Those categories deserve attention when comparing rates: a coastal address alone does not tell you which view comes with the room you select.
The guide also describes ten two-bedroom signature suites with Club Lounge access. Club accommodation is a distinct booking choice, so guests should check the inclusion attached to their exact category and party size. A suite name or an attractive photograph is a poor substitute for a written list of benefits.
How should you compare the total cost?
Start with the room category and cancellation terms, then ask for the complete stay estimate, including applicable parking, property charges and any dining or activities you plan to book. Families should confirm occupancy limits and the cost of additional guests before comparing a Club rate with another room.
For now, the acquisition is a business development at an operating coastal resort. The practical booking work remains specific: choose the view you want, establish which benefits are included and keep written confirmation of anything important to your stay.
