Hard Rock Tejon Starts Its Hotel Build, With Overnight Stays Still Ahead

Hard Rock Tejon has broken ground on a 406-room hotel targeting summer 2028. Two pools and a spa will turn the California casino into an overnight resort.

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tejon broke ground on its hotel expansion on October 21, bringing an overnight resort closer to the existing California casino. The announced investment exceeds $725 million, with summer 2028 the current opening target.

For travelers, the distinction is straightforward: the casino is already operating, but the hotel stay belongs to a later phase. This week's ceremony starts construction rather than opening rooms for an upcoming holiday.

What will an overnight stay add?

The new hotel is planned with 406 rooms, including 119 suites. Two resort-style pools and a 13-treatment-room Rock Spa are part of the announced programme, giving future guests options beyond the gaming floor.

Dining additions include Council Oak Steaks & Seafood, two more Marketplace outlets and a Center Bar. Meeting and event facilities are also planned. Those additions could make a longer visit more practical for groups whose members want different ways to spend the day.

The news is the construction milestone and updated hotel plan. It should not be read as confirmation that every facility will open together or that a particular room category is ready to reserve.

Where does Tejon fit into a California trip?

The property sits in Mettler, south of Bakersfield, along the Interstate 5 corridor. Its official FAQ describes the location as about 30 minutes south of Bakersfield. That makes the setting an inland road-trip option, with a different purpose from a beach resort break.

Our planning advice is to decide whether the casino itself is the reason for stopping. Until the accommodation opens, travelers who want an overnight visit should arrange a separate confirmed hotel and account for the drive between properties.

What should guests check before making plans?

Treat summer 2028 as a target window rather than a guaranteed arrival date. Wait for a bookable opening date before building a nonrefundable itinerary around the new hotel, and check which amenities are included in the room price when rates appear.

For a visit during construction, ask the property about current access routes and any work near the areas you plan to use. The rendering accompanying this story shows the intended hotel, rather than a completed building that guests can enter today.
