A centuries-old estate in the English countryside is about to become one of the country's most ambitious luxury hotel openings of the year.

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, part of the Accor portfolio, will debut Fairmont Cheshire, The Mere on July 10, 2026. The property sits on 157 acres overlooking The Mere Lake in the Cheshire countryside and arrives after a staggering £90 million (approximately $121 million) renovation by Select Group, which acquired the estate for an additional £35 million.

The resort will feature 116 guestrooms, including 23 suites, along with a headline-grabbing dining program led by Gordon Ramsay at The Mere. Additional food and drink options include The Orangery, serving afternoon tea and champagne, and The Club Lounge, offering British and Indian cuisine.

Beyond dining, guests will have access to a full-service Fairmont Spa and an 18-hole championship golf course that has been a fixture of the property for decades. The estate itself dates back to the Domesday Book of 1086 and has served as both a private club and leisure estate over the centuries.

Fairmont Cheshire, The Mere joins the brand's growing UK lineup alongside The Savoy in London, Fairmont Windsor Park, and Fairmont St Andrews in Scotland. It marks Fairmont's first property in Northwest England.

Reservations are now open for stays beginning July 10.
