COMO Maldives Sets Festive Plans, With Gala Dinner Costs to Check
COMO Cocoa Island and Maalifushi have detailed festive dining, family activities and wellness, with gala dinners excluded from Maalifushi’s inclusive plan.
COMO Cocoa Island and COMO Maalifushi have detailed their 2026 Christmas and New Year programmes, pairing special dinners with family activities and wellness sessions. The October 29 announcement gives travellers dates to plan around, but Maalifushi's all-inclusive terms make one distinction clear: Christmas and New Year gala dinners are excluded.
That matters when comparing festive room offers. A stay with meals and drinks included does not automatically cover every event on a holiday calendar. Ask for the full cost of your chosen dates, including any applicable celebration supplements, before comparing the two islands.
What is planned at Cocoa Island?
Cocoa Island's calendar includes a five-course Italian Christmas Eve dinner at Ufaa for US$148 per guest and a Christmas Day dinner for US$195. A steak and seafood barbecue follows on December 29 at US$185. Prices are subject to prevailing government tax and service charges.
The programme also has activities away from the dinner table. A treasure hunt and coconut painting session on December 25 is listed as complimentary, while other excursions and wellness experiences carry separate prices. This gives families a reason to look at individual days rather than choosing dates solely around the main celebrations.
The small South Malé Atoll property has 33 overwater suites and villas and an approximately 40-minute speedboat transfer from Malé's international airport. Its intimate scale is part of the choice for guests comparing it with its sister island.
How does Maalifushi's programme differ?
At Maalifushi, December 31 brings a Tropical Gatsby gala dinner on Madi Beach, followed by music, dancing and a countdown over the water. Family programming includes Play by COMO activities and marine experiences, giving younger guests more than an evening celebration to anticipate.
The resort's festive page lists a family reef outing with its marine biologist on December 24 and 31 at US$75 per adult, complimentary for children aged 11 and under. Those published prices also attract government tax and service charges. Advance booking is recommended.
What does Simply COMO actually include?
Maalifushi's Simply COMO plan bundles dining, selected beverages, activities and a specified massage allowance, but its exclusions explicitly include themed parties and gala dinners such as Christmas and New Year events. Seaplane transfers are also outside the plan.
Maalifushi requires an approximately 60-minute seaplane journey, compared with Cocoa Island's shorter boat crossing. Before booking flights, ask each resort to confirm transfer timing, the event bill for your household and which activities require reservations. Those details will shape both the cost and pace of a festive stay.
