This Tiny Curacao Luxury Resort Is Growing Fast — and Getting a New Name

Baoase Luxury Resort, the Bali-inspired boutique property tucked along the coast in Willemstad, Curacao, is planning its biggest change in nearly two decades: an expansion that will grow the resort by roughly 60 percent and a rebrand to Baoase Curacao.

The project adds 14 private plunge-pool suites, a new resort pool and a restaurant, and is scheduled to open in January 2027. That lifts the room count from 23 to 37 — a meaningful jump for a property whose appeal has always rested on its small scale and privacy. The new suites are designed to carry the same contemporary, Balinese-influenced style as the existing rooms, with updated technology worked in.

The name change is meant to signal permanence rather than reinvention. Baoase says the new branding honors the local Curacao team and island culture that have shaped the resort over nearly 20 years, and the expansion is being framed as a careful addition rather than a wholesale overhaul.

Growing a resort known for exclusivity is a balancing act. Adding 14 suites gives Baoase more inventory to sell during peak season and a fresh room category to market, but the challenge is holding onto the secluded feel that has made it one of the more talked-about small luxury hotels in the southern Caribbean.

Curacao has drawn steady interest from travelers looking for a Dutch Caribbean alternative to busier islands, with its reef diving, colorful Willemstad waterfront and reliably dry, breezy weather. A larger Baoase gives the island another high-end room supply heading into 2027.
