This 56-Room Old San Juan Boutique Just Joined a Marriott Collection — With a Rooftop Pool Over the Bay

Alma San Juan, a 56-room boutique hotel in the heart of Old San Juan, has joined Marriott's Autograph Collection, bringing one of the historic district's newer small hotels into the Marriott Bonvoy network. The property is now listed as Alma San Juan, Puerto Rico, Autograph Collection, and occupies a restored building at 405 Calle de San Francisco, steps from the restaurants, bars and plazas of the old city.

Autograph Collection is Marriott's group of independently styled hotels that keep their own name and character while plugging into the company's reservations and loyalty system. For Alma, the affiliation means travelers can now earn and redeem Bonvoy points for a stay, a rare option inside the walls of Old San Juan, where most Marriott inventory sits along the beachfronts of Condado and Isla Verde.

The hotel leans into its address rather than a beach. Its defining feature is a rooftop with a plunge pool that looks across San Juan Bay and the tiled roofs of the historic district, alongside Mar y Rosa, an open-air dining and drinks venue. At street level, Alma Café and Wine Bar runs through the day, while the main restaurant, Andaluz, builds its menu around the long culinary link between Spain and Puerto Rico.

Guests are within walking distance of Calle San Sebastián, Plaza de Armas, the San Juan Cathedral, La Fortaleza and, a bit farther west, the fort of Castillo San Felipe del Morro.
