JW Marriott to Debut Its First All-Inclusive Resort in Costa Rica This Spring
The 415-room beachfront property in Guanacaste will feature 11 dining outlets, a 16,000-square-foot spa, and 17 pools.
Marriott is bringing the JW Marriott brand into the all-inclusive space for the first time, with a 415-room resort set to open this spring in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. The property, located within the exclusive Costa Elena community, will join the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program upon opening.
Set on 885 feet of beach frontage near Tamarindo, the resort will offer 11 food and beverage outlets — a substantial lineup designed to make the all-inclusive dining experience feel like a culinary tour rather than a buffet rotation. A 16,000-square-foot spa and 17 swimming pools round out the amenities.
Why It Matters
JW Marriott has long been positioned as Marriott's premium tier, but the brand has never operated an all-inclusive property. The Costa Rica debut signals Marriott's intent to compete more directly in the luxury all-inclusive market, where Hyatt's Inclusive Collection has been dominant since its Apple Leisure Group acquisition.
The resort is approximately 49 miles from Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport, which receives direct flights from several major U.S. cities. Guanacaste's Pacific coast has become one of Central America's hottest resort corridors, attracting investment from multiple international hotel groups.
For Marriott Bonvoy members, the opening creates a new option to earn and redeem points at an all-inclusive property under a trusted luxury brand — something the program has lacked compared to competitors like World of Hyatt.
