This Hotel Giant Just Opened a Beachfront Resort Wedged Between a Rainforest and the Sea
Hilton has debuted a new Southeast Asian resort with meditative rock pools, a nature center, and a spa tucked between jungle and the Andaman Sea.
Hilton has opened the Hilton Burau Bay Langkawi Resort, a beachfront property on Malaysia's Langkawi archipelago that sits directly between tropical rainforest and the Andaman Sea. The resort brings 251 rooms to one of Southeast Asia's most popular island escapes.
The layout leans hard into its natural setting. Guests get three swimming pools, four dining outlets, and a set of five "meditative rock pools" scattered across the grounds. A dedicated nature center anchors the resort's focus on the surrounding jungle, while the eforea Spa handles the wellness side. Rooms start around $220 per night, or 66,000 Hilton Honors points.
The opening is part of a broader push by major hotel groups to plant resort flags in Malaysia, where beach and rainforest destinations like Langkawi have drawn steady interest from travelers looking beyond the usual Southeast Asian hubs. Positioning a property between two distinct landscapes, sea on one side and protected forest on the other, gives the resort a selling point that is hard to replicate on a crowded beach strip.
For a brand better known in the region for city hotels, a nature-forward beach resort signals where the growth is: experiential, outdoorsy stays that pair easily with diving, island-hopping, and jungle excursions. Langkawi's duty-free status and improving flight access have made it an increasingly practical long-haul option, and a full-service resort under a global loyalty program lowers the barrier for points-focused travelers who want a recognizable name on the sand.
